HIP HOP WILL DO IT!

Birthed in the streets of the South Bronx around the mid 70’s, Hip Hop has become a cultural movement that has spread around the world.  Hip Hop started with a positive focus, interwoven with the social movements of its time.  The music, dance and art focused on drawing people into discussion and action for community change.

The Hip Hop Academy teaches youth about the positive origins and history of the Hip Hop movement, culminating with a community show performed by participants. Students get hands on experience with the four main elements of Hip Hop:

• Breakdancing
• MCing
• Grafitti art
